WHY?
It is essential for all students, irrespective of grade,
to 'sharpen' their basics skills from time to time as it is on this foundation
that all other techniques rely. Intensive Training Courses cram the equivalent
of one and a half months of normal training into one week and feature intensive
basics and special supplementary training, which due to time restrictions are
not included in the usual training sessions.
Intensive Training Courses emphasise the importance of the character (Mandarin:
'Ren', Japanese: 'Nin' - lit.'to endure') in the martial arts. This concept
is epitomised in one of the eight dojo kun: 'Be untiring and unceasing in your
endeavours in spite of all obstacles' - As these courses are not easy, successful
completion has a positive, motivating effect on all facets of one's life.
WHERE?
Morning trainings will be conducted at the beach opposite
the Swanbourne-Nedlands Surf Lifesaving Club. However please meet at the Allen
Park Pavilion (located at the corner of Kirkwood and Wood Streets in Swanbourne)
at 4.55a.m. The Allen Park Pavilion will be available for showers, changing,
breakfast, etc. after the morning trainings. Evening lessons will be held on
the reserve above the carpark of the Swanbourne-Nedlands Surf Lifesaving Club.
COST?
One month's fees. Discount applicable if paid on or before Monday 22 December 2003. All fees must be paid by Monday 5 January 2004. Financial difficulties should be discussed in a timely manner and should not be considered an impediment to participation.
NOTE : Participants traditionally have breakfast together after the morning trainings in the hall so bring whatever you'd like for breakfast. In particular, on the last morning (Saturday) we like to 'go all out' with a full cooked, multi-course breakfast - so allow the time and come prepared!
